About Course :

The aim of this course is to provide solid basic foundation to acquire essential technique and knowledge in the field of computer and "IT" to the young budding students to face the Global needs.

They can be absorbed as computer scientists or software personnel in the R & D establishment of Government or private organisation.

Course Structure

1. The course shall be of three years duration spread over in six semesters.Each semester shall have five theory subjects and one related practical course. Each subject carries 100 marks (80 marks for semester examinations and 20 marks for internal assessment. Internal assessment will consists of two tests of 10 marks each).

2. Each course shall be of 16 weeks duration with 4 hours of teaching and 1 hour for tutorial / seminar per week.

3. The candidate shall be considered to have have undergone prescribed course of study if he / she has attended 75% of the classes (theory and practical) in each of the subjects.

4. Student shall not be allowed to carryover more than three subjects before getting admission to the third and fifth semesters.

5. The maximum period for completion of the course shall be six years from the date of a admission.

6. The aggregate marks for passing in each semester shall be 50% and the minimum score for each subjects shall be 40.


Class and Grades

1. The over all total of all marks in all the six semesters (I to VI) excluding the marks secured in foundation English and one of the Indian languages in first and second semesters shall be considered for declaring the class. Those securing more than 70% marks will be given Distinction, those who secure 60% and above, but less than 70% will be given First Class and those securing 50% and above but less than 60% will be declared as Second Class.

2. Only 30 candidates will be admitted to this course for every academic year.


Eligiblity

1. Candidates who have passed PUC-II or 10+2 Science / Commerce with minimum of 50% of marks or an examination of any universities or Board recognised as equivalent thereto, shall be eligible for admission to the course. For SC/ST/CAT-I students, the minimum score shall be 40% .

2. Students who have passed two year JOC course after SSLC are eligible for admission to BCA course provided they should have studied mathematics/statistics/commerce as one of the subjects with 50% in aggregate. For SC/ST/CAT-I students, the minimum score shall be 40%.

3. The students who have passed Diploma in Engineering subjects, conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka, (3 years after SSLC) are are eligible for BCA course provided they have studied computer / any branch of engineering with mathematics as one of the subjects with 50% of aggregate marks. For SC/ST/CAT-I students, the minimum score shall be 40%.


Addmission Procedure

Candidate, who satisfy eligibility conditions will have to undergo an entrance test for 100 marks (an objective type of questions - 20 marks in general English and 80 marks in PUC-I and II, Mathematics for Science and Accountancy for Commerce students) will be conducted by the college


Candidates shall be rated for a total of 200 marks :

1. Entrance test 100 marks

2. Performace at SSLC 50 marks

3. Performace at PUC-II 50 marks


Rules and Regulations

1. Students are expected to maintain a high degree of discipline in the college premises as well as in the classroom, laboratories and library.

2. Due care must be taken to see that institution property is well protected.

3. The parents and guardians are also advised to keep in constant touch with the principal from time to time as regards to the progress and conduct of their wards.

4. For scholarships the candidate should approach the concerned authorities in the college office.

5. The students admitted to the BCA course shall have to deposit their SSLC and PUC original marks cards in the college for which the acknowledgement will be issued. The same will be returned after getting the clearance and submission of acknowledgement card issued.

6. Upon getting admitted to BCA course every student is issued with an identity card duly signed by the coordinator and Principal, which consists of name, address and the department to which the student is admitted. Wearing an Identity card in the campus is must.

Semester VI

Project Work - Four Months - (200+50 Marks) A Candidate should obtain minimum of 50% marks in the project work including viva-voce related to project work.
